Bozeman Building Traditions was started in Bozeman, Montana in 1997. Our first projects were historically compatible homes on the North Side of Bozeman in the Perkins and Stone historic overlay district. Four of these homes were awarded the City of Bozeman Historic compatibility designation. These homes included a host of green features, not the least of which was hyper insulation and high efficiency hydronic radiant slab heating. They were new homes in context of a historic neighborhood. These are located at 626 and 630 East Davis, 421 and 501 N. Perkins, and 515 North Third Street. We also did several historic remodels on East Story Street and N. Church Avenue.
We progressed into a more eclectic style that incorporated many traditional historic design motifs that used more and more “green” innovations. These are the homes located at Sunfish Park. Sunfish is a minor subdivision of five homes, located on Turtle Way, adjacent to Glen Lake and the East Gallatin recreation area. These homes all represent a unique open style combined with the very latest in technological innovations. These homes were constructed using recycled materials, double stud construction, closed cell fructose based urethane foam insulation, plaster interior finishes, and fine quality recycled wood trims. Technological innovations include the use of both Photovoltaic solar panels, combined with liquid solar panels as well. These homes are all Energy Star Rated, with HERS ratings of 31 to 47. Recently, company owner Ed Adamson received the National Association of Homebuilders certification as a green professional. Bozeman Building Traditions is a proud member of both the National Association of Homebuilders and the affiliated Southwest Montana Building and Industry Association.
